Like New York, Tokyo، Mumbai and all the big cities around the world, Tehran has also its own night life, mischievous and underground. In a night at Tehran, a 30 yrs girl, running away from her birthday party, looking for happiness, gets into a night cab, unaware of how her life is going to change forever.

Fate vs choice.

Destiny on one side, choices on the other. In between: the night. A long night in Tehran. One night on the road, one that doesn't pass and doesn't arrive at dawn. In a car, a woman on her birthday night and a talkative driver. She, rebellious, cynical, shameless ready for anything, offers him to overcome every limit on that night and the reward is tempting. A proposal that cannot be rejected. Thus began, in a car, with a cell phone in hand and a series of addresses to reach, an urban journey that has the bitter taste of premeditated revenge.

Two strangers (perhaps), two nocturnal animals in search of extreme experiences, suspending the ethical judgment and the question of what is right or wrong. Between one stage and another, the knowledge of the two passes through the sharing of wounds and reflection on choices, irreversible errors, doubt, free will and responsibility. The conclusion seems simple, almost obvious: a 'undecided' decision, the decision of those who doubt, is not a real decision and we can choose everything except death. But perhaps it is more complex than that. Perhaps, as there are nights that do not see the dawn, there are loves that cannot be survived and from which there is no going back. An 'after someone' who does not admit anyone. Passions that become obsessions, open wounds that don't have time to heal. The bleeding, even before physical, is that of betrayed and irrepressible feelings. Then the anger, the absence and the reversal: those who destroyed us can save us and those who loved us can destroy us.


One night in Tehran is the dense and gloomy story of the other face of love, its dark side and how difficult it is always to understand how fate is truly free from everyone's choices.


Najafi tells us about humanity and its imperfection, with incorrect dialogues, high content and an almost one location movie approach, which makes everything intimate and important, like a confession.
