From Friday 3rd to Sunday 12th September Casarano and the “Manzoni” cinema-theater will host the 2010 edition of the film festival conceived and directed by Gigi Campanile

The City of Casarano hosts the VII Edition of the Salento International Film Festival. The great festival of Independent cinema meets this year in a new location, which follows Tricase, home of the SIFF for the first 6 years. Not only an international competition but also an initiative aimed at dressing the city of Casarano with a sophisticated note of worldliness. This edition, which has an excellent artistic depth, despite struggling with the usual financial difficulties, hopes to renew the usual and now long-awaited cinema festival.

We were honored by the visit of the Indian Ambassador to Italy Min. SAURABH KUMAR and his First Secretary R. K. AGNIHOTRI, who came to thank for the work done by SIFF in promoting Indian culture and cinema.

We presented for the first time in Salento a group of original Mariachis from Mexico and Banghra Dance from India, who have been animating the streets of our country for a few days. Not to forget the intriguing evening of Roxy Rose’s Burlesque show and the classy concert by Stace England and the Salt Kings of Illinois.

“Dry, punctual and courageous”. Three adjectives, one meaning: “ Best Documentary”. The documentary film “ Colpa Nostra”, by the journalista Giuseppe Caporale And the direction by Walter Nanni, with music by Enrico Melozzi, won over the jury of the Salento International Film Festival, winning the important recognition last September 12th in Casarano, in the province of Lecce. The L’Aquila earthquake and the Abruzzo bribery scandal, told “without parochialism. A documentary that illustrates the facts while honoring the truth”, as can be read in the motivation.
