From 8 to 16 September 2007 Tricase hosts the 4th Edition of the Salento International Film Festival sponsored by the Puglia Region, the Province of Lecce and the Municipality of Tricase. The 88 works participating in the SIFF come from 27 countries around the world and are feature films, short films and documentaries, of which 3 world premieres, 12 European premieres and 37 Italian premieres.

SIFF plans 2 special events for this edition: “Heaven could wait…homage to Massimo Troisi, with the screening in Piazza Pisanelli of 3 films directed by him ( Ricomincio da tre, Scusate il Ritardo and Non ci resta che Piangere and a tribute to Milena Canonero, costume designer, winner of the Academy Award for Best Costume Design in Film”Marie Antoinette” by Sofia Coppola, a film which will be screened, as a SIFF preview, on Friday 7 September 2007 in Piazza Pisanelli, at 9.00 pm.

BILLO The Grand Dakhaar”, directed by Laura Muscardin. Award-winning film at various film festivals around the world, Billo – in Italian premiere – is the first epic comedy about integration. It is a journey through today’s Italy seen from the eyes of a foreigner, non-EU citizen, Muslim. It is the story of a successful integration, full of irony, feelings, strokes of luck, but also vitality, optimism and determination. Billo is the first film made with The Coproducers method, as well as being the first Italy-Senegal co-production in Italian history. The funds to support living expenses were found on the market through sponsorship interventions, non-repayable funds and through the sale of shares in the film to actual private financiers. Closing the event on Saturday 16 September will be the American film – Italian premiere – “Beautiful dreamer” directed by Terri Farley-Teruel, and starring Brooke Langton and Colin Egglesfield. The film tells a beautiful love story, the likes of which you don’t see anymore, one of those stories full of romantic and tortuously painful moments, where love, true love, conquers everything. Set in 1940, it tells the story of Claire and Joe, newlyweds. that the War divides. Joe, a pilot, is shot down with his plane in enemy territory and, struck by amnesia, is declared missing and presumed dead. But Claire doesn’t give up and starts looking for him.
