REGULATION

The 21st edition of the Salento International Film Festival will take place from 10 to 15 September in Tricase and Bisceglie in Puglia.

THE FESTIVAL

The Salento International Film Festival has its main objective the commitment to promoting knowledge, tolerance and cultural diversity through cinema. Represent cultural diversity through film selection by highlighting stories from around the world, giving audiences a window into the richness of human experiences. Promoting cinema in any language not only as an artistic form, but also as a vehicle for intercultural understanding as linguistic diversity contributes to the richness of the cinematic landscape and global understanding one of the most powerful means of cultural communication and bonding between cultures and peoples.

THE SECTIONS

The Festival presents 6 competitive sections, with a free theme: Feature Films, Documentaries and Short Films divided into: Women in Cinema, International Short Films, Italian Short Films and Focus Iran. Non-competitive sections, tributes, meetings and testimonials

SUBMISSION

Submission for the Festival is valid only through the FILMFREEWAY platform. There is a pre-selection fee. The deadline for registering for the pre-selection is 04/31/2024.

All works, to be admitted, must have at least a Puglia Premiere If it emerges that the work has passed through other Apulian festival circuits, it will be considered excluded from the selection.

Please Note: If a film is not selected or withdraws from the pre-selection, the entry fee will not be refunded.

RESULTS OF SELECTIONS

The selection of films is the responsibility of the selection committee. The films selected for the Siff will be included in the section deemed most relevant by the programming managers.

The official program of the Festival is definitively approved by the Artistic Direction.

The selection committee will inform the participants via email and publication on the Festival website www.salentofilmfestival.com

Siff does not recognize rental costs for films selected in the international competition sections. The shipping costs of physical media (DVD, USB or Hard Disk) to and from Tricase will be borne by the participants, unless specific agreements are made with the Festival organisation.

To put it online it will be necessary to fill in and sign the specific release authorizing the Festival to transmit and publish and/or disseminate, in any form, the audio, video and photographic material of the selected work exclusively on the streaming platform associated with the Festival. Furthermore, you are authorized to publish only promotional material of the selected work on Siff’s social networks (Instagram, Facebook and YouTube). You will be able to choose between a geolocalization blocked to Italy only and an international geolocalization.

The permitted projection formats are: DCP, MP4/mov files.

It will be the festival’s responsibility to produce the DCP for screening in theaters

mov h264 files: the Festival accepts files in mov h264 format (AAC-AC3 audio-mpeg audio; maximum bitrate 15000 b/s).

MP4/mov files: the Festival accepts only the mp4/mov format for online screening with the following requirements; Resolution: 1920×1080 | Frame Rate: 23.976 / 24 FPS recommended | 25 FPS | Codec: H.264 | mp4 / Subtitle format: .srt

b) The selected film files can be sent: via downloadable link (Google Drive, WeTransfer or Vimeo services) to the email address ….

c) The Festival does not recognize rental costs for films selected in the sections of international competitions. The shipping costs of physical media (DVD, USB or Hard Disk) will be borne by the participants, unless specific agreements are made with the Festival organization .

d) Films in Italian language must be subtitled in English. In the event that the screening copy is not identical to the one sent for selection, it is required to send a new copy in file or DVD (for which the Festival does not cover shipping costs) for subtitling.

SCREENING RIGHTS

Screening rights and musical rights are the responsibility of the author; participation in the call implies that the author grants the cultural and distribution rights for non-profit screenings. Registration for the Festival entails authorization to screen the work during the event. For any further use, the author will be contacted.

Acceptance of this regulation also implies that whoever registers the work actually has the rights over it.

Participants agree to the Festival’s use of photos or extracts from their film (for a maximum of 3 minutes) for promotional use (press, TV, internet, etc.).

INFORMATION ON THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

The participants, with the presentation of the works carried out and the relevant registration for the competition, will allow the processing of their personal data, for the competition needs, pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 196/2003 ed. pursuant to article 13 of the European Regulation 2016/679 – GDPR.

The participant authorizes the Fuori Rotta Association, or the Company identified by it, organizer of the Salento International Film Festival, to publish the images, photographs and films and/or videos recorded during the Festival on its website, in the catalogues, and/or on other means of communication deemed suitable, and public and private dissemination events without, however, compromising personal dignity and decorum. The participant also agrees that this authorization of rights of use is not in conflict with any contractual agreements and/or rights of representative agencies, relieving the Fuori Rotta Association from any claims of third parties in relation to this granting of rights. The participant authorizes the use of the image(s) and music which are to be considered completely free of charge.

The participant, pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003 and article 13 of the European Regulation 2016/679 GDPR, declares to be fully informed of the purposes and methods of processing of personal data knowingly indicated in the form and to authorize the archiving of the material presented in the Festival history.

All personal data and those protected by privacy law are and will be processed by us according to principles of correctness, lawfulness and transparency, protecting your rights, for the purposes and with the methods described in the information of the SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, owner of the treatment;

The participant declares to have full ownership of the patrimonial exploitation rights granted by law 633/1941 on the cinematographic work he has registered for this Festival.

The Organization reserves the right to use all the material received and the works subjected to scrutiny by the juries, therefore finalists, for promotional purposes of the social message linked to the Festival.

Therefore they may be the subject of public screenings in promotional events or public demonstrations that the SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL or the company identified by it, deems to be of great social commitment.

ARCHIVE RIGHTS

The works sent for pre-selection will not be returned, but used exclusively as archive material. The Association or Company identified by it, creator and producer of the Festival reserves the right to use the archived material for promotional purposes, without profit. With the request for participation, the author and/or those having any right to the work authorize its use for festival screenings, for study purposes and for exhibitions, for the sole purpose of promoting the event.

By registering, the participant authorizes the SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL to keep the work, if selected for participation in the Festival, in its archive and consents to access to these archives by professionals in the cinematographic and audiovisual sector previously authorized by Siff.

The signing of the regulation also provides for the granting of the rights to use the work both directly and indirectly, also through its sub-licensees, in the Territory indicated in the regulation solely for non-commercial/non-profit purposes (for example: to promote the Work and/or its authors, for cultural purposes, for institutional purposes of the Licensee and/or its sub-licensees, for training initiatives at educational institutions, etc.).
